Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers appreciate the convenience of their key fob's remote features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle as well as start the motor and even locate it with an app on their smartphone.

Place the key fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that releases it, place an object between the cover and the fob and pull it up gently.

Unlocking the Door

Volvo's remote keyfobs can unlock your car's doors, tailgate and flap for filling up with fuel at the press of one button. The remote key fobs can also turn on the ignition and set off the alarm. They can even operate the sunroof, if it is equipped. With these options you'll never look for your keys or even lock yourself out of your car again.

If you own a brand new Volvo model from our dealership, you might be unfamiliar with some of its key fob hidden features. One of these features is the manual lock/unlock button, which you can press in the event the battery on your key fob goes out.

To press the manual lock/unlock switch, hold your key fob with the volvo xc60 key not working logo side up. Find the black button that is located near the edges of the key fob body and press it gently to open a cover that houses the manual key blade. The cover can be flipped counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.

Starting the Engine

Use a fingernail to remove the cover from the back of the key fob. Under the cover and on a diagonal at the body's edge, you'll find an unidentified button. Take it off by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will come loose and slide away to reveal the manual blade! If you can't find the button, look around the now-revealed manual key access to find the lever or slot that is hidden.

Closing the Windows

Volvo key fobs feature a hidden feature that allows you to instantly roll down all the windows. This is useful when you're trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply need fresh air while driving.

To unlock your Volvo simply press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof if you have one. Once you're done with the vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also set off the panic alarm in your car by using the key fob. It will emit an alarm that is loud and attention-grabbing that will frighten off thieves and help you get home safely after a long night out. This feature is helpful when you live in a secluded area or want to protect your family while they're away.

The opening of the Tailgate

Volvo Key finder's key fob is stuffed with many useful features. These are great when you're overwhelmed with groceries or helping kids pack their sports gear after practice.

For instance, if have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped) it is possible to open it using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it using the same button.

Use the key fob to ensure you are ready to start the vehicle. (Don't worry if your battery fails or your vehicle doesn't start, because it also has an electronic key slot). This is one of the many tricks that can be useful for your brand new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide a lot of convenience over a traditional mechanical car key. They aren't always working perfectly and the batteries may be dead. You can try to program your key fob at your home if you are in a rush or don't have time visit a shop.

Find a clean work surface and lay out your key fob, battery and other keys. Set the key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards and then find a small black button on the left-hand side of the fob. Slide it down and to the right. The cover will fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade underneath.

Press the key fob's unlock button twice quickly, and you should be able open all the doors as well as the tailgate. The lock button also closes the sunroof and windows (if fitted) by pressing it for two seconds. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owner's guide should include a reset method.
